    Minister Lajčák meets with political parties on Slovakia’s presidency of the Council of the EU

    Bratislava (2 June) - Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, today in Bratislava met with officials of political parties to jointly discuss the presidency of the Council of the EU that Slovakia will assume exactly one year from now. This meeting followed a similar discussion in January this year and is an integral aspect of the effort by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic to involve the widest possible spectrum of relevant stakeholders in the preparation process.

    A farewell meeting with the Belgian Ambassador to SR

    Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, in Bratislava today (2 July) received Christian Lepage, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to the Slovak Republic in a farewell meeting. Lepage is ending his diplomatic mission in Slovakia and his departure also ends the representation office of Belgium in Bratislava as the Belgian government has decided to close it for budget-related reasons.

    Just one year until Slovakia presides over the Council of the European Union

    Bratislava (1 July) – “The preparations for Slovakia’s presidency of the Council of the European Union have been progressing in line with the schedule,” stated Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, after a meeting of the government in Bratislava.

    Minister Lajčák meets with ambassadors from the EU countries

    Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, was a guest at a meeting of ambassadors of EU countries accredited for Slovakia with the top officials of the country on Tuesday 30 June. The meeting, periodically organized by diplomats with the Slovak officials, was held in Modra this time on the occasion of the ending of Latvia’s presidency of the Council of the EU as well as the ending of Slovakia’s presidency of the Visegrad Four (V4).

    Slovakia’s first attendance at prestigious development assistance event

    Oud Poelgeest (The Netherlands, 29 June) – The experience and ambitions of Slovakia in providing development assistance were presented by Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, at the informal meeting of ministers covering development assistance, heads of development agencies of the OECD member countries and top officials of international development organizations held on Monday in the town of Oud Poelgeest, The Netherlands.

    The Government Council of the Slovak Republic for Human Rights, National Minorities and Gender Equity meets

    A meeting of the Government Council of the Slovak Republic for Human Rights, National Minorities and Gender Equity took place in Bratislava today (26 June) under the leadership of Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic. In his introductory address, the minister expressed his conviction that a friendly and constructive climate has been established in the Council, which is the key to cultivating the standard of human rights dialogue in Slovakia.

    The Golden Plaque for the departing US Ambassador

    Bratislava (June, 26) - Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, presented the Golden Plaque of the Minister to Theodor Sedgwick, the departing Ambassador of the United States to Slovakia, for his extraordinary contribution to development of SR-USA relations today in Bratislava.

    Slovakia-Switzerland: Interest in extending bilateral cooperation

    Bern (25 June) – Further intensifying Slovak-Swiss cooperation was agreed upon in Bern today by the foreign ministers of Slovakia and Switzerland, Miroslav Lajčák and Didier Burkhalter. Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, made a one-day official visit to Switzerland, including talks with Simonetta Sommaruga, President of the Swiss Confederation.
