    Minister Lajčák receives Apostolic Nuncio Mario Giordana

    Bratislava (17 April) - Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, received Apostolic Nuncio Monsignor Mario Giordana today. Both partners evaluated the outcomes of the talks between the Minister and Monsignor Antoine Camilleri, Under-Secretary of the Holy See for Relations with States, during the recent official visit to the Vatican by Andrej Kiska, President of the Slovak Republic.

    Golden Plaque presented to departing Polish Ambassador

    Bratislava (17 April) - Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, today received Tomasz Chłoń, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to Slovakia, on the occasion of the conclusion of his diplomatic mission in Slovakia.

    Openness of cyberspace needs improved international cooperation

    “Cyberspace allows global interaction and offers great opportunities but also presents challenges and threats that can be tackled only through joint effort.” This was stressed at an international conference on cyberspace in The Hague today (16 April) by Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic. The Global Conference on Cyber Space (GCCS) is a platform for discussing and finding solutions to threats in the virtual, cyber world. This year’s fifth conference welcomed more than 1,700 representatives of governments, the IT sector, civic society and media from about 90 countries. Fifteen states, including Slovakia, were represented by foreign ministers.

    Ukraine and the EU dominated the Review Conference on Foreign Policy of SR

    The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic and the Research Centre of the Slovak Foreign Policy Association (SFPA) held the 16th Annual Review Conference of the Foreign and European Policy of the Slovak Republic in the diplomacy department’s premises today (14 April). The participants were welcomed by Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic and Professor Juraj Stern, the President of the Board of Directors of the association. The welcoming remarks were followed by comments by Andrej Kiska, the President of SR, Peter Pellegrini, the Speaker of the National Council of SR, and Robert Fico, the Prime Minister of Slovakia.

    Discussion in Barcelona on EU’s future cooperation with southern neighbours

    “The European Union is open to new forms of cooperation with southern neighbours that will better and more dynamically reflect their interests and ambitions in the area of joint relations,” stated Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, today (13 April) in Barcelona after the combined meeting of the foreign ministers of the EU’s 28 member states with 10 states of the Southern Neighbourhood.

    Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic received Miroslav Jenča, Head of the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, with residence in Turkmenistan, who will soon assume his new position as the Assistant UN Secretary-General for Political Affairs.
