    Lajčák in Kenya: “SSR is a way to identify and get ready for future security challenges”

    Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák continued with the second day of his official visit to Kenya today (November 26, 2014) and met with President of the Republic of Kenya, the Minister of Defense, as well as representatives of the UN organizations seated in Nairobi. At the beginning of the day, the Minister met with representatives of Slovak and Kenyan non-governmental organizations, with whom he discussed the projects currently being carried out in Kenya, as well as prospects to put programs up and running.

    Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák started his official visit to the Republic of Kenya today (November 25, 2014) meeting with Kenyan Deputy President William Ruto, Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Amina Mohamed, and Speaker of Parliament Justin Muturi.

    President of Slovakia engaged in the public discussion on branding of Slovakia

    This December, the first phase of the public discussion on the new branding of Slovakia under preparation (published at the portal www.brandingslovenska.com) will culminate. This portal has been initiated by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic that coordinates the branding process. The portal, created by a group of students from the Faculty of Mass Media Communication, University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava, enables all those interested to express their opinions on what kind of a country Slovakia is and how it should be presented abroad.

    Lajčák in Ethiopia: „Well established security sector reform the backbone of stability“

    There is no development without security. Functional security institutions – protecting the territorial integrity of states and their inhabitants – contribute to the successful implementation of other reforms as well as international peace, stability and cooperation. Slovakia has been helpful in security sector reform (SSR) in many countries where we transfer our own SSR expertise.

    Lajčák received Apostolic Nuncio to Slovakia Monsignor Giordana

    Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák met with Apostolic Nuncio to the Slovak Republic Monsignor Mario Giordana at the Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Ministry today (November 21, 2014). Their talks revolved around current mutual relations between the Slovak Republic and the Holy See, with a special focus on preparations for signing the agreement on mutual recognition of education certificates. „I believe that our joint efforts will help us successfully wrap up the process involving expert discussions so that the new international agreement can be ready to sign,” stated the Minister Lajčák.

    The mediation role of Egypt in the Near East Peace Process, political developments in Egypt and the related impact on the security situation in the country, as well as bilateral issues – focused on the missing elements of the contractual basis between the countries – dominated the talks between Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák and Ambassador designate of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Slovakia Amr Wafik El Henawy on the occasion of presenting copies of his credentials today (November 21, 2014).

    Minister Lajčák presented Goodwill Envoy awards

    In Bratislava today (November 20, 2014) – marking this week’s 25th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák presented Goodwill Envoy awards to Slovaks successful in spreading the good name of Slovakia abroad. Laureates of the 3rd year of this award are Andrea Rajňáková, a prominent expert in gastroenterology, hepatology and endoscopy active in Singapore, Anton Zajac, co-founder and long-term executive director of the American IT firm ESET, and Netherlands-based Peter Biľak, a graphic and type designer – one the best-known in Europe in this field.

    Lajčák presented symbolic check of €75,000 in Sarajevo to buy vehicles for transport of dialysis patients

    Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák left today (November 18, 2014) for Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he will meet with political leaders in Sarajevo and Banja Luka to discuss the post-election situation in the country and relay the messages and expectations of the EU agreed on in Brussels on Monday.
