    Lajčák: “We want to ratify Association Agreements with Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia by the end of September"

    Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák led the delegation of the Slovak Republic at the fifth meeting of foreign affairs ministers of the European Union and the Eastern Partnership today (July 22, 2014). The meeting was aimed at reviewing the current state of the Eastern Partnership project and setting its further direction in key areas for the next 6–12 months.

    Minister Lajčák holds talks in Brussels with Ukrainian counterpart Klimkin

    Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák met with his Ukrainian counterpart Pavel Klimkin in Brussels today (July 22, 2014). The ministers focused on developments in south-eastern Ukraine. Klimkin told the head of Slovak diplomacy about the steps being adopted by Ukraine to deescalate the tension.

    Minister Lajčák at the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels

    Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, attended the regular session of the EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) in Brussels on Tuesday (July 22, 2014). The ministers focused on the developments in Ukraine in relation to the recent downing of the Malaysian Airlines flight 17.

    Today (July 21, 2014), Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Slovakia Nguyen Xuan Luu on the occasion of his diplomatic mission ending.

    Lajčák sent letters of condolence with regard to the air plane downing in Ukraine

    Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák sent letters of condolence over the airplane downing in eastern Ukraine to his counterparts today (July 18, 2014) – to Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands Frans Timmermans, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia Dato’ Sri Anifah Aman, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia Marty Natalegawa, UK Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Australia Julie Bishop, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines Albert del Rosario, Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany F.W. Steinmeier, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium Didier Reynders and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada John Baird.

    Lajčák: V4 + South Korea ministerial meeting produces a range of concrete results

    Today (July 17, 2014), the Bôrik hotel in Bratislava hosted the historically first ministerial meeting of the Visegrad Group with South Korea in the V4+ format, which was at the same time the first meeting of this Central European grouping since Slovakia took over the Visegrad Group Presidency on July 1.

    Lajčák gave an address at the donor conference for Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia

    Today (July 16, 2014), Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, gave an address at the donor conference held in Brussels on assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia after the recent floods. In his address, he welcomed the efforts of the international community headed by the European Union to help to restore the two countries and he again underlined the level of solidarity with both flood-stricken countries. He also encouraged the governments of both countries to use the challenges brought about by this serious humanitarian catastrophe as opportunity to improve the life of their citizens.
