    Slovakia’s commercial and economic diplomats meet in Bratislava

    The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic organized a meeting of commercial and economic diplomats in the premises of the diplomacy department on Monday and Tuesday (29 and 30 June) that was primarily aimed at harmonising performance of the economic diplomacy with Slovakia’s present needs.

    Preparations for the 3rd United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III) to take place in Quito, Ecuador in October 2016, during Slovakia’s presidency of the Council of the EU, was the key topic of a meeting between Igor Slobodník, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, and Joan Clos, UN Deputy Secretary-General and Executive Director of United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).

    Improving Slovak-Vietnamese trade and economic relations

    Igor Slobodník, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, received Ho Dac Minh Nguyet, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Slovak Republic, today (26 June) and highlighted the growing trade and economic relations between Slovakia and Vietnam. The partners appreciated their well-developing political relations, as also attested by the visit made by Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, to Vietnam in November 2014.

    Slovakia and Brazil discuss ways to intensify cooperation

    Brazil, as a leader of the dynamically-developing South American continent, was the topic of today’s (25 June) meeting between Igor Slobodník, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, and Susan Kleebank, Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to Slovakia.

    Officials from three countries meet at the Danube Strategy “Floating Conference”

    For the so-called Danube Strategy Floating Conference, upon the initiative of the current Baden-Wurttemberg’s presidency of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, a meeting took place in Bratislava today (24 June) with the officials of three consecutive presiding countries of the Danube Strategy: Austria, 2014 presiding country, represented by Michael Linhart, Secretary General of the Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs; Baden-Wurttemberg, this year’s presiding country, represented by Peter Friedrich, Minister for European Affairs of this federal unit, and Slovakia, 2016 presiding country, represented by Peter Javorčík, State Secretary of the diplomacy department.

    “Slovakia is interested in deepening trade and economic relations with the Kingdom of Thailand,” stated Igor Slobodník, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, today (23 June) upon receiving the copies of the credentials from Arthayudh Srisamoot, Ambassador designate of the Kingdom of Thailand to SR.
