    Minister Lajčák meets with The Holy See Secretary for Relations with States Mons. Gallagher

    Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, met with Mons. Paul Richard Gallagher, the Holy See Secretary for Relations with States, in Bratislava on Thursday night (5 March), while he was in Bratislava for a meeting of legal experts of the European bishops’ conferences.

    Hungarian Ambassador presents her credentials to Minister Lajčák

    Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, received Éva Czimbalmosné Molnár, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary-Designate of Hungary to Slovakia, who presented copies of her credentials in Bratislava today (5 March).

    Minister Lajčák receives the UN Representative for Iraq, Ján Kubiš

    Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, received Ján Kubiš, the new United Nations Special Representative for Iraq and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), today (5 March). The Slovak diplomat, who had also previously served as the Slovak foreign minister, was appointed to his new position by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon last week.

    Several common interests join Slovakia with Bulgaria

    Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, held talks in Bratislava today (5 March) with his Bulgarian counterpart, Daniel Mitov, who was on an official visit to Slovakia upon Minister Lajčák’s invitation.

    Golden Plaque of the Minister awarded to French diplomat Pierre Vimont

    Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, presented the Golden Plaque of the Minister to Pierre Vimont, Executive Secretary General of European External Action Service (EEAS), for his contribution to building European diplomacy, in Brussels today (4 March).

    Minister Lajčák at UN Geneva meeting: Human rights violations undermine global security

    There are no prospects for lasting peace and stability without honouring fundamental human rights and freedoms, Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, stated today (2 March) in his introductory address to the 28th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

    V4 countries establish a joint patent institute

    The Visegrad Four (V4) countries now have a joint patent institute. Today (26 February) in the premises of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic in Bratislava, the representatives of industrial property offices of the four member states signed an Agreement on the Visegrad Patent Institute that will operate as a non-governmental organization with the aim to promote innovation and increase competitiveness in the region through better and less expensive protection of innovation that originates in the V4 countries.

    Minister Lajčák presents golden plaque to head of Železiarne Podbrezová

    Podbrezová (26 February) - Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, presented the Golden Plaque to Vladimír Soták, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of the Železiarne Podbrezová steel mill, for his contribution to promotion of Slovakia abroad. “On the occasion of this important jubilee I would like to appreciate your work and the activities of your company which have contributed to improving the business environment and employment in Slovakia as well as the exporting capacities of Slovakia and promotion of the country’s reputation abroad,” stated Minister Lajčák as he was presenting the plaque at the company headquarters in Podbrezová.
