The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Helsinki
State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Ivan Korčok paid a two-day visit to the Republic of Estonia on 9-10 May to share Slovakia´s expertise acquired during its Presidency of the Council of the EU. Estonia will take over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 50 days (since 1 July).
Bratislava (25 May) - At its Wednesday session in Bratislava, the Government of the Slovak Republic approved the nomination of Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Miroslav Lajčák for the post of UN Secretary-General. This was done in response to the invitation made by President of the UN General Assembly for the member states to nominate candidates with proven leadership and managerial abilities, extensive experience in international relations, and strong diplomatic, communication and multilingual skills for this post.
Helsinki (21 October) - Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, is accompanying Andrej Kiska, President of SR, during his official visit to Finland. Minister Lajčák’s separate program in Helsinki included bilateral talks with his department counterpart, Timo Soini, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland.
Ivan Korčok, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic and Plenipotentiary of the Government for the Slovak Presidency of the Council of the European Union, received Helena Tuuri, the designated Ambassador of Finland to Slovakia, resident in Prague, who presented copies of her credentials today (2 September 2015).
State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Igor Slobodník attended celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the adoption of the Helsinki Final Act, which has become the founding document of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE) today (10 July).
