First meeting of the Slovak-Polish Discussion Forum

The first meeting of the Slovak – Polish Discussion Forum is being held in the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic. Experts from both governmental and non-governmental areas met to discuss topics being important for both countries within Europe and mutual relationships. The discussion was dominated by the Eastern Partnership especially focused on Ukraine and Belarus and energy security mainly as for cooperation in the gas sector and electricity generation and transmission. The aim of the forum is to create a platform for an intensive exchange of opinions, as well as to support cooperation within governmental and non-governmental sectors and businessmen of both countries.

The discussion forum is led by State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic Milan Ježovica and Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland Grażyna Bernatowicz. The Slovak – Polish Discussion Forum is a follow-up to the Slovak – German Reflexion Group and the Slovak – Czech Discussion Forum organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic in 2011 to deepen dialogue with main partners in the European Union.
