One Slovak short-term observer will participate in the Election Observation Mission of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (ODIHR/OSCE) to monitor the early parliamentary elections in Macedonia to be held on June 5, 2011.
The ODIHR/OSCE mission consists of 12 international experts, 20 long-term and approximately 300 short-term observers who will be deployed throughout the country. The observers monitor whether the overall election process complies with democratic principles, OSCE commitments and other international standards. ODIHR/OSCE has observed eleven elections in Macedonia.
Early parliamentary elections are taking place as a result of dissolution of the Parliament one year earlier than the scheduled time. Calm, transparent and democratic elections are of the first importance.
