State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic Peter Burian received Director of the Ukrainian National Institute of Strategic Studies at the President’s Office (NISS) Andrii Yermolaiev on July 25, 2012. The discussion focused on developing and enhancing Slovak-Ukrainian cooperation in culture, education and science, especially with respect to student exchange programs, research stays, and the collaboration of scientific and cultural institutions.

Director Yermolaiev found occasion to thank the Slovak Foreign Ministry for its active support of the activities of the National Convent on the EU in Ukraine. This project, being funded by the Slovak Official Development Aid, helps to create a platform for dialogue on the EU among Ukrainian state institutions and the non-governmental sector. As well, State Secretary Burian expressed his belief that Slovakia and Ukraine will take advantage of their position as neighboring countries to strengthen mutual cooperation on the level of municipal authorities, youth movement organizations and general civil society – including development of tourism on both sides.
