    Slovakia provided Ukraine with humanitarian aid

    On behalf of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Ukraine Juraj Siváček presented President of the Ukrainian Red Cross Ivan Usichenko with humanitarian aid in the volume of two tons today (March 4, 2014) for those injured during the recent unrest in Ukraine.

    Statement of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic on current developments in Ukraine

    In the follow-up to the conclusions of the extraordinary meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council on Ukraine held in Brussels on March 3, 2014, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs strongly condemns the violation of Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity through acts of aggression perpetrated by the Russian armed forces.

    EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting on Ukraine

    Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, represented the Slovak Republic at an extraordinary session of the EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) in Brussels today (March 3, 2014), which was summoned with regard to the emergency situation in Ukraine and escalation of tensions in the Crimean peninsula. In reaction to the current dramatic developments, the EU Foreign Affairs Ministers adopted conclusions in which the Council condemns aggression and the violation of Ukrainian sovereignty by Russia.

    Minister Lajčák together with V4 counterparts visited Ukraine

    Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák today (February 28, 2014) held a series of negotiations in Ukraine along with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Lubomir Zaoralek, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary János Mártony and Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nalęcz.

    Lajčák: "Slovak Republic long supports membership of Macedonia in the European Union”

    Today (February 27, 2014), Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák held talks with his counterpart, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia Nikola Poposki, who is paying an official visit to Bratislava. They broached the current state of Slovak-Macedonian bilateral relations, the integration process of Macedonia in European and trans-Atlantic structures, as well as exchange of opinions on the most recent developments in the Western Balkans.
