    Minister Lajčák endorsed ambitions of Montenegro for NATO membership

    Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák took part in the official program at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit held in Wales today (September 4, 2014). The official delegation of the Slovak Republic was led by President Andrej Kiska and, as well as the head of diplomacy there was also Minister of Defence Martin Glváč and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant-General Milan Maxim.

    M. Lajčák in Kishinev: “I am convinced the Eastern Partnership project makes sense”

    Supporting the European orientation of Moldova shortly before the country’s parliamentary elections and appreciating the accomplished results and reiterating the offer of assisting in implementation of reforms, transformation, and European values, as well as discussing the situation in Ukraine and relationships with the Russian Federation, were the topics of an informal meeting of foreign ministers of the so-called European Action Group of the Republic of Moldova that took place in Moldova’s capital of Kishinev today (1 September 2014).

    Minister Lajčák expressed condolences to Japan stricken by landslides

    With regard to the consequences of the natural catastrophe in Japanese city of Hiroshima, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák sent a telegram of condolence to Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Fumio Kishida today (August 26, 2014).

    Minister Lajčák gave an address on security sector reform at the European Forum in Alpbach

    Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák was again present for the second day of the international symposium European Forum in Alpbach, Austria today (August 25, 2014). The Minister primarily addressed the issue of security sector reform, as it – as well being the subject of a panel discussion – was the focus of a special business lunch with representatives of the respective international organizations (UN, EU, OSCE, UNDP and others) organized from the Slovak initiative.

    Economic diplomacy and branding dominated the Export and Investment Promotion Council meeting

    Today (August 20, 2014), the third session this year of the Export and Investment Promotion Council of the Government of the Slovak Republic – an advisory, coordinating and initiative body of the Government of the Slovak Republic for state aid involving international trade-and-economic cooperation and the presentation of Slovakia abroad – primarily focused on promotion of export and foreign investment inflow – was held under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák.
