    Slovakia and Cyprus on preparations for Presidency of the Council of the EU

    State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Peter Javorčík met with Andreas Mavroyiannis, former Minister for European Affairs responsible for the Cypriot Presidency in the Council of the EU during the latter half of 2012, in Bratislava on Monday (May 4). Their talks focused on exchange of experience in terms of the preparations for the Presidency. The participation of state secretaries from other ministries also added value to the meeting.

    Peter Javorčík, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, received Gunther Krichbaum, Chairman of the Committee on the Affairs of the European Union and member of the German Bundestag, today (30 April 2015).

    State Secretary Burian leaves to assume position of EU Special Representative to Central Asia

    Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, today (29 April) presented the Golden Plaque for contribution to the development of Slovak diplomacy to the departing State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Peter Burian, who will assume the office of EU Special Representative to Central Asia on 1 May.

    Prague (28 April) – Upon an invitation from Aspen Institute Prague, Peter Javorčík, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, and Tomáš Prouza, the Secretary of State for EU Affairs at the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic, participated in a seminar on development of the digital agenda in the Visegrad Four (V4) region.

    V4 and Ukraine experts discuss Security Sector Reform

    The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, in cooperation with the International Security Sector Advisory Team (ISSAT) within the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF), organized a training course on Security Sector Reform (SSR) for experts from the Visegrad Four (V4) countries and Ukraine today (22 April). The aim of the event was to present knowledge of reform and management of security institutions to make them more effective and transparent, to experts from the diplomacy, defence, interior, justice and other departments from the V4 countries and from Ukraine. The training course also offered opportunities for discussions of the reform processes in the V4 countries and in Ukraine.

    Migration dominates GAC with participation of State Secretary Javorčík

    Following up yesterday’s joint meeting of foreign and interior ministers in Luxembourg, there was a meeting of the General Affairs Council (GAC) on the issue of migration in Luxembourg today (21 April). Slovakia was represented by Peter Javorčík, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic.
