The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Washington, DC hosted members of the Republican Congressional Spouses Organization on March 21st, 2012. The participants were greeted by Slovak Ambassador Peter Burian who informed them about Slovakia´s path to today´s democracy and prosperity, Slovak engagement in the world and Slovak-American relations as well as about activities of the Embassy. A rich cultural program included a performace of Bob Rychlik on a traditional Slovak musical instrument fujara and a lecture of Lucia Maruška on Slovak customs and spring traditions accompanied by a a display of Slovak folk art samples and a demostration of traditional Easter egg decorating by Slovak Americans Josephine Blackwell and Mark Jesko. The event was organized as a part of the series of public diplomacy and cultural events commemorating the 20th anniversary of the independent Slovakia.
