Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, welcomed Philip Hammond, British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, today (October 30, 2014). They discussed Slovakia-Great Britain bilateral relations, reform of the European Union from the perspective of Great Britain and the Visegrad Group, as well as other areas of common interest.

“We appreciate relations with Slovaks living abroad. We consider these relations – especially our responsibility for compatriot issues – to be natural and logical. We have stabilized a system and clear competencies, which give us a greater scope for concrete work and projects. This was said today (October 30, 2014) by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák at the Slovak Republic and Slovaks Living Abroad 2014 conference, organized by the Office for Slovaks Living Abroad (USZZ) in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic.

Lajčák: “With submitting our candidacy for the UNTWO Executive Council, we would like to reinforce our position in tourism”

Deepening cooperation in tourism, the candidacy of Slovakia to become a member of the Executive Council of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in 2015-2019, as well as branding and recommendations on how to improve the situation in tourism in Slovakia were up for the discussion on Wednesday (October 29, 2014) when Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčak met with UNWTO Secretary-General Taleb Rifai in Bratislava.

Minister Lajčák held talks with Slovak Bishop Conference Chairman Mons. Zvolenský

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák met with Slovak Bishops´ Conference Chairman, Bratislava Archbishop metropolitan Mons. Stanislav Zvolenský at the Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Ministry on Tuesday (October 28, 2014). The discussion, initiated by the Slovak Bishops´ Conference, revolved around current relations between the Slovak Republic and the Catholic Church in Slovakia.
