    Slovenský diplomat, veľvyslanec Drahoslav Štefánek sa dnes (16. januára 2017) ujal funkcie vedúceho Úradu Rady Európy v Bosne a Hercegovine. Jeho úlohou bude viesť pokračovanie implementácie Akčného programu Rady Európy pre Bosnu a Hercegovinu, ako aj poskytovať odbornú pomoc a podporu orgánom a inštitúciám najmä v oblastiach posilňovania kapacít v súdnictve pri aplikácii európskych ľudsko-právnych štandardov na národnej úrovni, posilnenia inštitúcie ombudsmana v boji proti diskriminácii práv príslušníkov národnostných menšín, za zvýšenie ochrany práv zadržiavaných a väznených osôb, ako aj za posilnenie súdnej expertízy pri uplatňovaní slobody prejavu a médií v juhovýchodnej Európe.

    State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Lukáš Parízek, attended the international ministerial conference on the Middle East peace process on behalf of SR in Paris today (15 January). The goal of the conference, organized under the auspices of French President François Holland, was to reiterate international support for a fair, lasting and comprehensive solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

    Štátny tajomník Ministerstva zahraničných vecí a európskych záležitostí SR Lukáš Parízek dnes (9. januára) prijal designovaného veľvyslanca Marockého kráľovstva pre Slovenskú republiku so sídlom vo Viedni Lotfiho Bouchaaru, ktorý mu odovzdal kópie poverovacích listín.

    Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Miroslav Lajčák, expressed condolences to his Turkish counterparts, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and Minister for EU Affairs Ömer Çelik with regard to attack at the Istanbul club Reina that claimed 39 lives and left 65 persons with injuries. Minister Lajčák strongly condemned this terrorist attack and expressed deep condolences to both counterparts: “At this difficult moment we stand on the side of the people of Turkey in our common fight against the threat of terrorism. Our thoughts are with the families of the innocent victims who lost their lives in this tragedy.”

    Bratislava (2 January) – The Presidency of the Slovak Republic of the Council of the EU was successful in all regards and presented a contribution to both the EU and to Slovakia. The Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, Robert Fico, Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčák and Slovak Government Proxy for the Presidency, Ivan Korčok, agreed on this conclusion at the evaluation press conference at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of SR in Bratislava on Monday. “I consider the Presidency of the Council of the EU a clear success”, stated Prime Minister Fico. He reported on the favorable evaluation of the Presidency’s performance and outcomes by top officials of European institutions, member countries and European media. He identified the launch of the Bratislava process – that has started the EU’s self-reflection following Britain’s decision to leave the community – as the most important outcome of the SK PRES.
