Brussels (1 December)—“The Slovak Presidency has met another of its objectives as the Union has its budget for 2017. Next year we will have better equipment to cope with migration and its causes, as well as to increase the EU borders security and border protection. The budget for this sphere increased by 11%. We are also increasing funds for promoting growth and employment by 12%,” stated State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic and the Slovak Government Proxy for Slovak Presidency in the Council of the European Union Ivan Korčok at the European Parliament plenary session, where MEPs adopted the EU budget for 2017.

Today (30 November) at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, the first session of the Slovak Government Council for Compatriots´ Issues (RVKO) was held, IT WASIt was opened by the Council Chairman, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák, and also attended by State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Lukáš Parízek and Secretary General and Deputy Chairman of the Office for the Slovaks Living Abroad (ÚSŽZ) Peter Prochácka and Council members: ÚSŽZ Chairman Ján Varšo, State Secretary of the Slovak Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport Peter Krajňák, State Secretary of the Slovak Interior Ministry Rudolf Urbanovič, State Secretary of the Ministry of the Slovak Finance Ministry Dana Meager, and Director General for the International Cooperation Section of the Slovak Culture Ministry Gabriela Madrová (substituting for the Council member Ivan Sečík State Secretary of the Culture Ministry).
