State Secretary of the Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Ministry Lukáš Parízek officially opened the Slovak-Belarus Economic Forum in Minsk on 18 September 2019. The event, organized by the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Minsk in cooperation with the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was held on the sidelines of the TechInnoProm exhibition.  A large representation from Slovak business participated, under the auspices of the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency.

“The realization of the Slovak-Belarus Economic Forum reflects the positive dynamics of the development of the political dialogue between Slovakia and Belarus,” stated Parízek in his opening remarks. The State Secretary also added that “the growing trade exchange between the two countries in the amount of almost EUR 200 million does not meet its real potential.” The realization of the business forum was a concrete instrument of the economic diplomacy of the Slovak Republic to support Slovak business entities in Belarus. The relevance of the event was confirmed by the high level of bilateral interest of the business entities.

The Forum preceded the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic and Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Slovak Republic and the Republic of Belarus to be held in Minsk on 23-24 October 2019.
