Solo concert of a talented Slovak guitar player Karol Samuelčík in London

On the 13th of June 2019, the prestigious London concert hall, Southbank Centre, hosted a solo concert of a talented Slovak guitar player Karol Samuelčík. The concert was organised by the Slovak Embassy in London, in collaboration with the Latin American and Caribbean Cultural Society and more than eight hundred guests have attended, including tenths of leading representative institutions with offices in London. The demanding audience highly praised the performance of the extremely talented Slovak guitar player. 

 

Karol Samuelčík plays the classical guitar since the age of six, and acclaimed professionals label him as one of the most expressive talents of his generation, a phenomenon, that only gets born once every couple of decades. He has studied at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts (VŠMU) in Bratislava from 2011 until 2016, where he has graduated with the highest honour, Prize of the Rector, under the mentorship of professor. J. Zsapka. He has expanded his musical education during a study exchange trip to Conservatorio Superior de Música in Vigo (Spain, teacher - Margarita Escarpa) and also during his time studying at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona (Spain, teacher Álex Garrobé). He is currently studying for his doctorate at the VŠMU in Bratislava under the mentorship of a world-renowned professor, Jozef Zsapka. This young artist gathers success on both Slovak and international stages, he is the laureate of many large international competitions. He regularly performs in Central Europe, has concerts in Spain, China, Hong Kong, and he recently came back from touring South America, where he performed in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Uruguay. The repertoire, which he has chosen to present to the London audience, has confirmed, that his reach is extremely wide. It included masterpieces from composers from the 19th Century up until current, contemporary authors. The extraordinary performance of Karol Samuelčík was awarded with a massive applause. The Slovak Embassy has hence contributed to a fantastic presentation of our culture in London.
