Statement of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic on North Korea ballistic missile test

13.2.2017 | Vyhlásenia a stanoviská ministerstva |

The Slovak Republic expresses serious concerns over the ballistic missile test launched on 12 February this year by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. This act of provocation represents not only a repeated violation of the UN Security Council resolutions but also threatens regional stability, international peace and global security. Instead of accommodating steps leading to discussions on denuclearization and easing the tension on the Korean peninsula, Pyongyang continues in a series of provocations and prefers to escalate the tension. Such policies could have catastrophic consequences for the region and the world. Slovakia joins the international community voices and strongly calls upon Pyongyang to terminate the existing programs of developing weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles and to come back to build confidence and stability in the Korean peninsula.
