“The cooperation between the Ministry and non-governmental organizations is a natural part of the foreign policy environment, development cooperation, as well as public diplomacy at the Ministry,” stated Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák at the pre-Christmas informal meeting held on Thursday (18 December 2019). He also thanked the partners for their great cooperation and their contribution in the past period.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry cooperates with a wide spectrum of non-governmental organizations in various areas and supports them through the Ministry’s subsidy scheme.  The traditional meeting served as an opportunity to assess the cooperation as well as to identify the challenges that lie ahead next year.

Before this official event Minister Lajčák held discussions with representatives of the non-governmental sector and the academic community during the round table. They exchanged views focused on the future of the foreign and European policy of the Slovak Republic.  “We also discussed some crucial issues concerning international relations, especially the situation in Central Europe, the future of the European Union, and the developments in trans-Atlantic relations and multilateralism with an emphasis on the rise of new global stakeholders,” concluded the head of Slovak diplomacy.
