The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic (MFEA SR), seeking to involve the widest possible circle of domestic partners in Slovakia’s first Presidency of the Council of the European Union, has offered a unique opportunity to non-governmental organizations, municipalities, cities, regions, schools and other organizations to include the auspices of the presidency during their planned events.

Slovakia will assume the Presidency of the Council of the EU in the second half of this year. The granting of the auspices during Slovakia’s Presidency, inter alia, includes the opportunity to use the Presidency logo, promotion in web sites and social media of MFEA SR and Slovakia’s Presidency and also possible participation of a diplomacy department official in the event.

“Our Presidency of the Council of the EU is a society-wide role and an opportunity to present all of our country. It is of great importance to us to make sure that this role is disseminated in the widest possible general and professional public, in the regions, cities and municipalities all across Slovakia. Through granting auspices during Slovakia’s Presidency we seek to give more visibility to events that will contribute to society-wide discussion and raise interest in our Presidency and the European Union as well,” said Minister Lajčák.

Auspices during Slovakia’s Presidency is a non-financial mechanism to promote events by various organizations that actively involve the public in preparation and carrying out of the Presidency, to increase awareness of its messages and content priorities, and to encourage discussion of the EU and of Slovakia’s input into its policies.

The diplomacy department will grant auspices to events that will take place from 1 March to 31 December 2016. The auspices can be sought by natural and legal persons with residence in Slovakia and abroad from 15 January 2016. The terms and conditions for eligibility will be on the MFEA SR web site from 15 January 2016.
