“Slovakia is permanently interested in developing friendly and constructive relations with the People’s Republic of China. Our ambition is to continue with an intensive cooperation in the areas of politics, trade-and-investment and innovation with an emphasis on science and research.”  These are the words of Miroslav Lajčák, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, who received today (17 December 2019) the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China Lin Lin, on occasion of the ambassador’s concluding his diplomatic mission to the Slovak Republic.

The head of the Foreign and European Affairs Ministry and the Ambassador of China assessed their mutual interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation and intensifying the contacts between the two countries, whether politically or economically. In this regard they stated their appreciation for the results of the visit paid by State Councillor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi to the Slovak Republic (July 2019), one of which was the delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister for Investments and Informatization Richard Raši who visited China in November. “I also underlined the need for a strategic partnership between the European Union and China,” stated Lajčák.

At the end of the meeting Lajčák presented the Ambassador with the Golden Plaque of the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic for his personal contribution to the reinforcement and development of bilateral relations between Slovakia and the People’s Republic of China.
