    State Secretary of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Ivan Korčok received Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Richard van Rijssen today (19 May) on the occasion of ending his diplomatic mission to the Slovak Republic.

    Brussels (19 May) - Migration, humanitarian crises and the Post-Cotonou dominated the talks of the EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC Development). Slovakia was represented by State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Lukáš Parízek.

    At the premises of the Permanent Representation of the Slovak Republic to the EU in Brussels the "EU-Central Asia: Reaching Sustainable Development Goals” conference was held on 18 May. The event, organized by the Permanent Representation of the Slovak Republic to the EU in Brussels was held as a follow-up to the historically first ever Slovakia´s Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The Central Asia region and implementing the Sustainable Development Goals were the topics actively approached by the Slovak Presidency. The conference was opened by State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Lukáš Parízek.

    State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Ivan Korčok, held talks with State Minister of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Victor Dolidze, today (15 May 2017). The meeting took place at the time of the ongoing first official visit by Giorgi Margvelashvili, President of Georgia in Slovakia, a reciprocal visit for the first visit by Slovakia’s President Andrej Kiska in Georgia in the past year. The key topics of the meeting included timely European issues, further development of bilateral relations and cooperation with the European Union.

    Another meeting of the Inter-departmental Coordination Group for Brexit at the state secretary level was held on Monday, 15 May 2017. That was the first meeting since the European Council’s guidelines for Brexit were adopted on 29 April 2017 and the first draft negotiating guidelines for negotiations with the United Kingdom were introduced.

    State Secretary of the Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Ministry on Thursday (11 May) gave an address at the discussion event entitled The Role of the V4 in the Future of the EU held at Chatham House, London. In talks with other European Affairs State Secretaries from the V4 countries, he highlighted the current need to discuss the EU's future. This debate has come to the forefront in all member states in recent months. However, in his view, this must not become a competition in the search for better solutions or ideal scenarios.

    Students and teachers of the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences of Comenius University of Bratislava took part in the discussion of the new 2017 Security Strategy on 10 May 2017. State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs Lukas Parízek is leading the discussion format at Slovak universities.

    State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Ivan Korčok paid a two-day visit to the Republic of Estonia on 9-10 May to share Slovakia´s expertise acquired during its Presidency of the Council of the EU. Estonia will take over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 50 days (since 1 July).

    Timely international policy issues, bilateral cooperation and preparations for the forthcoming NATO Summit in Brussels were the topics discussed today (April 28) by State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Lukáš Parízek, with the Ambassador of the United States of America to Slovakia, Adam Sterling. In introduction of the talks the state secretary expressed sincere condolences to his partner in relation with the death of an American citizen who tragically died after an OSCE mission patrol vehicle hit a landmine in east Ukraine.

    State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Ivan Korčok, received today (28 April 2017) a delegation from the Senate of the Republic of France headed by the chair of the Senate’s Slovak-French Friendship Group, Hélene Conway-Mouret.
