Minister Lajčák holds talks with Finnish counterpart Soini in Helsinki

Helsinki (21 October) - Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, is accompanying Andrej Kiska, President of SR, during his official visit to Finland. Minister Lajčák’s separate program in Helsinki included bilateral talks with his department counterpart, Timo Soini, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland.

The ministers discussed issues of bilateral cooperation and remarked on the good quality of relations and active contacts. They also delved into European and global issues. They discussed the situation in Syria and the migration crisis. In that regard they agreed on the need to find sustainable solutions that will deal with both the causes and consequences of migration.

The ministers also discussed energy security in the European Union, developments in Ukraine and relations with Russia, which is an important business partner for Finland.
