Forum on Sustainable Energy for All, 4. - 6. 6. 2014During 4th - 6th June 2014, United Nations is hosting a Forum on Sustainable Energy for All, which represents an opportunity to debate global access to energy, renewable sources and energy efficiency. A high range of panel discussions with representatives of political and economic life is being held.
Forum is also a launching the „United Nations Decade of Sustainable Energy for All“, which aims to achieve the universal energy access, energy efficiency improvement and more extensive use of renewable energy. Consequences of an absent or difficult access to energy have an impact on health, quality of life of people and also the economy. Well-functioning energy system allows increase of productivity, competitiveness and economic growth. Therefore, through the Forum the United Nations articulates the need to ensure reliable and affordable energy for everyone, environmentally friendly, to combat poverty, climate change and ensure sustainable development.
Slovakia is represented by the Permanent Representative of Slovak Republic to the United Nations, Ambassador František Ružička and Ambassador Pavol Hamžík, Ambassador-at-Large for the Energy Security and the Adviser to the Prime Minister on foreign policy and international relations.
