Joint Debate at the 65th Session of the United Nations General Assembly on the Report of the Intergovernmental Committee of Experts on Sustainable Development Financing, 8. 12. 2014

On 8 December 2014 the President of the United Nations General Assembly organized a joint debate on the Report of the Intergovernmental Committee of Experts on Sustianable Development Financing (ICESDF). The aim of this meeting was to allow Members states of the United Nations to express their views on the report of the ICESDF.

The Permanent Representative of Slovakia to the UN, Ambassador, František Ružička, delivered a statement in his national capacity. He emphasized the importance of the report which offered option based, non – prescriptive, financial strategies. He also highlighted the national ownership and responsibility for development taking into account the national circumstances of countries, the role of the ODA as well as special needs of the most vulnerable countries, such as Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Land Locked Developing Countries (LLDCs) and Small Island Development States (SIDS).
After statements the United Nations GA adopted unanimosly a resolution on the report of the ICESDF.
