Permanent Representative of Slovak Republic F. Ružička visits Japan, 26. - 30. 5. 2014

Permanent Representative of Slovak Republic to the United Nations, H.E. Mr. FRANTIŠEK RUŽIČKA conducted the working visit to Japan, during the week of 26th-30th May 2014. The invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan was also honored by Permanent Representatives of Greece, Libya, Portugal, Tanzania and Uganda, who were present in the delegation.
In the cities of Tokyo and Hiroshima, the Permanent Representatives were received by political leaders, representatives of public and cultural life and academics.
At the visit to the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovations they were accompanied by Mr. MAMORU MOHRI, Chief Executive Director and former Japanese Astronaut. Science and innovation belong to priority directions of economic diplomacy and meetings with senior experts on technology bring many inspirations.
During the meeting with HIROSHIGE SEKO, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary, the internal political situation in the country, Japanese candidacy to the Security Council of the UN and geopolitical situation in South China Sea were the topics of discussions and inquiries. Participants agreed that Japan, due to the many historical, economic and political factors, may play an important role in achieving objectives of sustainable development in Africa and in other parts of the world.
FUMIHIKO IKE, Chairman and Representative Director of Honda Motor Co., Ltd discussed with Permanent Representatives new trends and technologies in the field of combustion engines and robotics, their economic and financial implications and sustainable development. The intentions of the corporation in the field of energy and alternative renewable sources, including the kinetic energy of the sea and geothermal potential, were also on the agenda.
Permanent Representatives attended a dinner, following the invitation of NOBUO KISHI, Parliamentary Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, where the topical political issues, relations with Russia, China, J. Korea and the DPRK were discussed.
Meeting with NATSUO YAMAGUCHI, Member of the House of Councilors for coalition party New Komeito, envisaged the current domestic parliamentary and political situation.
Exceptionally interesting discussion was brought by a round table meeting at the premises of the University of Tokyo. Experts on sustainable development, financing and implementation of new technologies discussed the global development issues after 2015.
In the course of visit of Hiroshima, Permanent Representatives visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum accompanied by the Chairperson, Y.KOMIZO and listened to the testimony of one of the atomic bomb victims. Subsequently they laid a wreath to the Cenotaph for the victims of the bomb attacks of 1945.
Towards the end of their stay, members of the delegation participated in the visit of Miyajima, registered in UNESCO and were received by KENJI HIRAMATSU, Deputy Vice –Minister for Foreign Policy.
