Climate Change - Putting Paris agreement into action – building sustainable cities with sustainable energy

On 19 May 2016 the Permanent Mission of Slovakia to the UN in cooperation with the UN HABITAT and NGO Sustainability organized an event: „Putting the Paris Agreement into Action: Role of Efficiency and Renewable Energy“. The event focused on the issues of energy efficiency at the implementation of the Paris Agreement. 
The voice of science and technology was given by R. Judkoff, Director of Building and Thermal Systems Center from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Golden (Colorado) who presented a review on efficient energy solutions of buildings. 
The present development of the negotiations on the outcome for the UN conference on HABITAT III was presented by its Director J. Clos who contributed to the discussions on efficient energy solutions at local and regional level. 
The event also gave floor for the opinion of the SE4All (Sustainable Energy for All) presented by its Director M. Takada, who highlighted the importance of the SDG7 focusing on the access to energies for all. 
The Permanent Representative of Slovakia to the UN, Ambassador F. Ružička  prompted the discussion on the implementation of the Paris Agreement focusing on political will, need for technology transfer, creating environment for long term investment and mindset change for good results.
The event hosted two Permanent Representatives of the Netherlands, Ambassador Karel J. G. van Oosterom and Costa Rica, Ambassador Juan Carlos Mendoza García  who presented their national strategies and plans for implementing the Paris Agreement by highlighting country experience.
