Today (21 August 2018) Miroslav Lajčák, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, at the ministry addressed the ambassadors of the Slovak Republic abroad. They gathered in Bratislava to take part in a regular meeting of heads of representation missions of the Slovak Republic.
On October 18, 2017, Slovak Ambassador Ladislav Straka handed over credential letters to the President of Haiti H.E Jovenel Moise.
Relations between Slovakia and Cuba, and the European Union alike, have been experiencing a favourable period. This was said by the head of Slovak diplomacy, Miroslav Lajčák, during today’s first ever visit to Slovakia by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla. “Our bilateral relations are very dynamic and the prerequisites for that have been presented by the new policy of the Cuban government and the policy of reforms that included also releasing all political prisoners and an overall change of the atmosphere in Cuba,” explained Lajčák after the meeting with his departmental counterpart.
Slovak Ambassador Ladislav Straka handed over credentials into the hands of the Governor General of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines H. E. Frederick Ballantyne on Apríl 25, 2017. In an interview he praised the quality of relations, particularly in the mutual support of candidacies and possible development of the co-operation in the area of tourism.
Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák received today (27 March) new Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Slovakia Yamily Pity Montes, who assumed the function in mid-January. As the Minister stated during their talks, Slovak-Cuban bilateral relations are currently enjoying a dynamic period, attested to by not only a high intensity of mutual visits including the visit of the Slovak ministers of finance and healthcare last month, but also a wide range of joint economic and financial projects including the planned cooperation in energy within the project destined to reconstruct the power plant in Felton worth a total of €50 million. “Our role as diplomats is to open the door so that business entities and economic interests can enter,” said the Minister. He also emphasized that the Slovak Republic has nowadays a very good and dynamic cooperation basis with Cuba, which we, however, plan to extend also to education and culture.
