Christmas message from Miroslav Lajčák

Christmas message from Miroslav Lajčák

31.12.2009 | Aktivity ministra

Dear friends,

the year 2009 is about to end and although this year wasn’t easy due to the global crisis I hope that it had at least some nice moments for each one of you. Given the circumstances it was a successful year for Slovakia. We have introduced the euro pretty much hassle-free, we have remembered the 5th anniversary of our entry to the European Union and NATO. Our Ministry has also made an effort to focus the attention of the world to the 20th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution.

On the international scene we have strengthened our position as an important player in the Western Balkans. Our partners listen to our voice carefully and we are well and firmly established on the world stage. The Slovak diplomacy defends decisively the interests of Slovakia and its citizens. Our success is the success of our citizens and if we don’t succeed it is a motivation for us to exercise even more effort.

We wouldn’t be able to operate fully for our country without the support of our citizens. That’s another reason why we are trying to open up the Ministry for people and to bring it closer to them. However, right now, it is time to relax and take some rest. I wish to all our citizens and our foreign partnersand friends very merry Christmas and great start in the next year. May 2010 bring only good news for you – not only from the world but from every aspect of your life.
