During his visit to the northern metropolis on 12-14 March 2024, Ambassador Ľubomír Rehák laid flowers in the museum of the Pulkovo Observatory under the portrait of the famous astronomer Milan Rastislav Štefánik, who visited this observatory in December 1906 on his way to an expedition in Turkestan. The portrait of the multitalented Slovak and co-founder of Czechoslovakia was dedicated to the observatory by the former President of Slovakia, Rudolf Schuster.

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Juraj Blanár, together with State Secretary Rastislav Chovanec and Slovak Ambassador to India Róbert Maxián, was received by Giridhar Aramane, State Secretary of the Defense Ministry of India in New Delhi today (22 February 2024). Then the representatives of the Slovak Republic also held talks with Minister of External Affairs of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

On 9 February 1993, the independent Slovak Republic became a member of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). On the occasion of the 31st anniversary of Slovakia's accession to UNESCO, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Juraj Blanár, highlighted Slovakia's activities and prestigious achievements in one of the most renowned specialised agencies in the United Nations system.

Bratislava, 25 January 2024 - Katarína Tomková will be the new Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to the Federative Republic of Brazil. During her farewell meeting at the Ministry, the Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár wished her not only a safe trip, but, above all, the fulfilment of the determination and focus she has already put forth as part of her preparation for this South American mission.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Robert Kaliňák and the Minister of the Interior Matúš Šutaj Eštok visited the members of the Armed and Police Forces of the Slovak Republic that serve in Cyprus as part of the UN peacekeeping mission (UNFICYP) performing tasks in maintaining and keeping peace on the island. There are currently 240 Slovak female and male officers serving in Cyprus, not only in military but also in police uniforms.

For the first time in the history of its membership of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Slovakia held the chairmanship of the most important of its standing committees for two years. The Slovak Republic, represented by Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Slovakia to the OECD František Ružička, took over the chairmanship of the OECD Executive Committee in January 2022. After a particularly successful mandate, the OECD Council extended it to 2023.

On 15 November 2023, the Slovak Republic was elected as a member of the UNESCO Executive Board during the 42nd session of the UNESCO General Conference in Paris. The Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Juraj Blanár, welcomes Slovakia's election to the Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) for the period 2023-2027.

The literary evening was organised on November 11th, 2023 by the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in cooperation with the Ottawa Public Library and The Network of European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) as part of the Slovak Cultural Autumn in Canada.

On September 15, a solemn Eucharistic service in the Moscow Catholic Cathedral was dedicated to the Feast of the Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows, who is also the Patron-Saint of Slovakia.

450 guests, including five members of the Government of the Republic of Cyprus, the classical music concert performed by three Slovak artists, the inauguration of the photographic panel exhibition and the brochure marking three decades on bilateral relations - are the quintessence of the event held on the occasion of both anniversaries on 5 September 2023 at the Municipal Theatre in Nicosia.

Exhibition of contemporary posters by artists from Slovakia is on view from 18 July to 18 August at one of the world’s best architecture schools - The Cooper Union. Namely: Ján Baláž, Peter Eliáš, Andrej Haščák, Peter Javorík, Eva Jenčuráková, Lenka Sisak and Mykola Kovalenko.

During the summer, the Slovak ambassador to Russia Ľubomír Rehák visited several places connected with the history of Czechoslovak legionnaires in Russia at the end of the First World War. The legions that were evacuated from the eastern front of the First World War to the newly formed Czechoslovakia along the Trans-Siberian railway were drawn into the Russian civil war on side of the legal government, which did not agree with the Bolsheviks coup. Their military successes and effective protection of the territory along the Trans-Siberian highway against Bolshevik attacks caused a negative perception of the legions, the so-called "White Czechs" by the public and extensive misinformation about them in Soviet and subsequently Russian historiography. Commemorating the fallen fighters for peace and freedom is an important historical memento even in today's times, when war is again taking place in Europe.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic officially opened new representative premises of the Slovak Institute in Prague on 14 June 2023.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Ingrid Brocková opened the Partners Forum of the Slovak Commission for UNESCO (The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) at the diplomacy ministry on 13 June 2023.

State Secretary of the Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Ministry Peter Mišík held negotiations with Minister for Foreign Affairs Ian Borg and Deputy Speaker of the Malta Parliament David Agius in Malta on 12 June 2023. The meeting topics included bilateral cooperation in economic and cultural areas, migration, Russian aggression against Ukraine, the reform of EU institutions and protection of journalists.

Slovakia dispatched a government plane with humanitarian aid weighing almost 6 tons on 1 March 2023. This will help people in Syria to alleviate the consequences of the disastrous earthquake that hit the country at the beginning of February.

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic welcomes the political agreement on the implementation of the Northern Ireland Protocol between President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, which was achieved in Windsor on Monday, 27 February 2023.

On Tuesday, January 24th, 2023 in the evening, the Permanent Representative of the Slovak Republic to the UN, Ambassador Michal Mlynár with his spouse Andrea, and the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications, Ms. Melissa Fleming opened an exhibition on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Slovak Republic and Slovakia´s membership of the UN: “Successful Launch of Mission Slovakia” on the grounds of the UN Headquarters.

As a part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Slovakia`s membership at the UN, the Permanent Representative of the Slovak Republic to the UN, Ambassador Michal Mlynár, in cooperation with the Slovak-American Cultural Centre (S-ACC), and the local branch of Živena, organized an informal discussion, “fireside chat”, for Slovaks living in the USA, under the title „Slovakia at the UN, then and now”.

The Permanent Representative of Slovak Republic to the UN in New York, ambassador Michal Mlynár together with his wife Andrea, organized a Gala Evening on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Slovakia’s membership to the UN.

The UN General Assembly adopted on 14 November 2022 a resolution recognizing that the Russian Federation must bear all legal consequences of its violations of international law in or against Ukraine, including making full reparation for all the injury caused.

Andrej Stančík, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, as a member of the official delegation of the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Eduard Heger, visited Finland and Estonia from 9 to 11 November 2022. In Tallinn, he met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia, Kyllike Sillaste-Elling.

Consulate General of the Slovak Republic in New York organized the flagship event of cultural diplomacy in the USA in 2022 – the second edition of Slovaks in Concert in the prestigious Carnegie Hall on November 3, 2022.

During the UN Security Council briefing on Ukraine on 21. October 2022, Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo stressed that Accountability remains crucial as new allegations of atrocities have emerged in areas recently returned to Ukrainian Government control.

The UN General Assembly adopted on 12 October 2012 a resolution condemning the illegal annexation of part of the Ukrainian territory by the Russian Federation.

On the occasion of the International Dyslexia Day (October 8th), the Permanent Mission of Slovakia to the UN in NYC together with UNESCO, UNICEF and the international dyslexia organizations DISFAM and OIDEA organized an event with the aim of drawing attention to the hidden obstacles in achieving educational and professional goals that every 10th person faces. On 12 October, Ambassador Pavol Ivan attended the launch of the Energy Vulnerability Fund, which will allow citizens to register for a system that redistributes financial compensation for increased energy bill prices.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic (MFEA SR), Ingrid Brocková, delivered a speech on Wednesday, 12 October 2022, on the premises of the Foreign Ministry, as part of this year's meeting of the heads of the Slovak Institutes abroad. Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Rastislav Káčer opened the Partners Forum of the Slovak Commission for UNESCO at the diplomacy ministry in Bratislava today, 6 October 2022.

On September 16, 2022, Ambassador Andrej Droba presented the Letters of Credence to President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins and thus officially started his mission as the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Ireland.

On 14 September 2022, the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Chisinau held a festive reception on the occasion of the Slovak national holiday (the 30th anniversary of the Slovak Constitution Day), which was attended by about 140 invited Moldovan guests, representatives of the diplomatic corps and compatriots. On 30 August 2022, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Ivan Korčok, met with Rabbi Isaac Schapiro on the premises of the Foreign Affairs Ministry and paid a visit with him to the Museum of Jewish Culture in Bratislava.

On 8 July 2022, the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to the Republic of Moldova Pavol Ivan had a courtesy meeting with the Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Moldova Ana Revenco.

Greek-Cypriot (G/C) and Turkish-Cypriot (T/C) political parties meeting under the auspices of Slovak diplomacy for more than 33 years accepted an invitation of the new Ambassador of the Slovak Republic Martin Bezák to an informal working lunch on 6th of July 2022.

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Ivan Korčok opened the Summer Concert of Classical Music in the courtyard of Palugyay Palace yesterday (1 July 2022). "Culture brings people together and allows them to absorb positive emotions into their everyday lives. It is an important diplomatic tool, as cultural diplomacy can be used to positively present and represent our homeland while also making it even more memorable. I believe we have managed to achieve this goal today," emphasised Minister Korčok at the end of the event.

President Čaputová received Slovak ambassadors along with the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Ivan Korčok, and other representatives of the diplomatic corps in the Presidential Palace on 27 June, 2022.

The meeting took place June 21, 2022under the auspices of Slovakia and Botswana, as its founding members and co-chairs. Main speakers of this informal meeting were Ambassador Michal Mlynar and Ambassador Collen V. Kelapile of Botswana, who currently serves as the President of ECOSOC.

Pri príležitosti 77. výročia prijatia Charty OSN usporiadal stály predstaviteľ SR pri OSN veľvyslanec Michal Mlynár s manželkou 15. júna 2022 v priestoroch rezidencie stáleho predstaviteľa slávnostný galavečer, počas ktorého si hostia uctili pamiatku nedávno zosnulého prvého stáleho predstaviteľa SR pri OSN a bývalého ministra zahraničných vecí SR Eduarda Kukana. Podujatie bolo zorganizované v rámci „Roka slovenskej kultúry v USA“.

Veľvyslanectvo SR v Nikózii nechýbalo ani na druhej časti osláv Dňa Európy na Cypre v turecko-cyperskej komunite. Tá sa konala v sobotu 21. mája 2022 v Kumsal parku v severnej časti Nikózie.
