Katarína Žuffa Leligdonová has assumed her duties as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to the Republic of Kenya and Permanent Representative of Slovakia to UNEP and UN Habitat in September 2021.

Studied political science at the University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra, and completed her education at the Clingendael Institute for International Relations in Hague as well as the European Institute of Public Administration in Maastricht.

Shortly after her studies, she worked at the Ministry of Construction and Regional Development of the Slovak Republic, the managing authority of the Slovak Republic for the Structural Funds, where she participated in setting and identifying the priorities of the Slovak Republic in receiving financial assistance from the EU.

Subsequently, her career continued at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, where she has been focusing on multilateral diplomacy, the development cooperation agenda and arms control issues.

She has been in actively engaging with Africa since 2005. Within the framework of multilateral diplomacy, she worked as the Deputy Permanent Representative of the Slovak Republic to the UN for the Environment and Human Settlements Program in Nairobi and later in Ethiopia as the Permanent Representative of the Slovak Republic to the African Union in Addis Ababa. At the same time, she was responsible for bilateral assessments of security and political developments within the countries of the Great Lakes region and the Horn of Africa.

Later, she addressed the topic of the peaceful use of nuclear energy, including its use for the fulfilment of sustainable goals at the UN in Vienna. Prior arriving to Kenya she covered for three years environmental topics and multilateral agenda in the Office of the President of the Slovak Republic.
