Montevideo (5 September) – More intensive bilateral and regional cooperation was tabled during the Monday talks in Uruguay held by Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák with the country´s Vice-President Raúl Sendic and Foreign Affairs Minister Rodolfo Nin Novoa. Minister Lajčák stated that since his visit to Montevideo last year, the political contacts of our countries have intensified and Slovakia is interested in actively continuing in this trend, as well as extending it also to economic cooperation that will increase the volume of trade exchange and investments. This has been part of Slovakia´s efforts to develop contacts with dynamically growing Latin American countries, including Uruguay.
In the context of the upcoming Slovak Presidency of the Council of the European Union – and with the objective of deepening bilateral cooperation between the EU and Latin America and the Caribbean – State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Lukáš Parízek met with selected CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) ambassadors today (27 May 2016).
Ambassador of Ecuador (based in Budapest) Maria del Carmen Gonzáles Cabal, Ambassador of Mexico Alicia Buenrostro Massieu and Ambassador of Chile Armin Andereya (both based in Vienna) have presented copies of their credentials to State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Lukáš Parízek.
Bratislava (25 May) - At its Wednesday session in Bratislava, the Government of the Slovak Republic approved the nomination of Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Miroslav Lajčák for the post of UN Secretary-General. This was done in response to the invitation made by President of the UN General Assembly for the member states to nominate candidates with proven leadership and managerial abilities, extensive experience in international relations, and strong diplomatic, communication and multilingual skills for this post.
During the inter-ministerial consultations in Bratislava held today (May 29, 2013), State Secretary of the Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Ministry of the Slovak Republic Peter Burian discussed with Vice Foreign Minister Eduardo of Argentina Zuaín about the potential of developing cooperation between Slovakia and Argentina.
