Consulate General of the Slovak Republic in New York
On April 19, 2017 a fifth edition of popular 6-Minute Challenge was held in New York. Czech and Slovak Academics and Artists from New York and area creatively presented their work in short presentation limited to six minutes.
On the occasion of the International Women’s Day a ceremony organized by the Society of Foreign Consuls took place on March 2, 2017 in New York.
Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák and UN Under Secretary-General for Disarmament Affairs Kim Won-soo met in New York on Friday, March 24 to discuss matters of mutual interest, with special emphasis on the disarmament priorities including the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, Iran and its nuclear program, North Korea, the US-UN relations especially with respect to the role of the United States in the global politics, and the need to create a functioning framework of effective international treaties, verification mechanisms and methods. On Thursday Minister Lajčák addressed the High-level event on Climate Change held at the UN.
