as of February 1, 2017, I have been appointed as the Consul General of Slovakia in New York.
Since 2001 when I entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic I have been working at various diplomatic positions home and abroad. I served twice in Vienna, Austria, firstly at the Office of the Secretary General of the OSCE (2004-2005) and later at Permanent Mission of the Slovak Republic to the OSCE (2005-2008) and secondly as Deputy Ambassador at the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Austria (2010-2014). At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic I started my career at the European Affairs Section (2001-2004), later I had an honor to work twice in the Office of the Minister – in 2008-2010 as Coordinator and in 2014-2016 as Deputy Director of the Office of the Minister. Before being appointed as the Consul General of the Slovak Republic in New York I worked as Political Coordinator at the Permanent Mission of the Slovak Republic to the United Nations here in New York.
It has been an honor and privilege to be able to represent Slovakia in the past years.
My colleagues and I at our Consulate General are committed to provide professional and high quality services to the people, to support the Slovak community and to represent Slovakia in US at different platforms.
Ladislava Begeç, Consul General
