Original play of Slovak theater director and playwright in New York

The original play by Slovak theater director and playwright Martin Čičvák Urn On An Empty Stage was featured on May 12, 2019 during a stage reading in New York. The performance was part of the "Spring weekend" of the theater festival "Rehearsal for Truth" in honor of Václav Havel. The Slovak play was translated and featured by a Slovak actress living in New York Katarína Vizina.

In Urn on an Empty Stage, Martin Čičvák brilliantly explores the dynamics between authoritative figures and their “victims”, particularly women. Using the Greek myth of Europa, the play attacks the problem of gender equality and the status of women in today’s society.

The event was organized by Vaclav Havel Library Foundation with other partners.
