Ivan Lančarič

Mr. Ivan Lančarič is a graduate of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations.  After completing his university studies by obtaining a law degree at the Comenius University in Bratislava, he joined the Foreign Service of the then Czechoslovakia in 1990. In 1993 he joined the newly established Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the same year was posted to the Slovak Embassy in Zagreb, Croatia. In 1995-1996 he acted as the Slovak Representative to the OSCE Mission in Georgia. Between years 1997-2000 he was posted to the Slovak Embassy in London as the Deputy Head of the Mission. During 2001-2006 he worked at the Slovak Ministry of Transport, Posts and Telecommunications as Advisor to the State Secretary, and later as a Political Assistant to the Member of Parliament.
 
In 2006 he became Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic, in charge of the coordination of the Slovak non-permanent membership to the UN Security Council, as well as Slovak initiative for building the capacity of the United Nations in the Security Sector Reform (SSR). 
 
In 2010 he was appointed Slovak Ambassador to Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar. Following his term in Kuwait, in 2015 he was seconded to the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic, and named the Director General for Foreign Trade Policy and European Affairs, responsible for the preparation of the Slovak EU Presidency Programme for the Foreign Affairs Council (Trade). 
 
Since July 2017, Mr. Lančarič worked at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, at the Directorate General for International Organisations, Development, Assistance and Humanitarian Aid.
 
Since 11th July 2018, he is Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to India in New Delhi. The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in New Delhi has jurisdiction also in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
