The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic recognizes the vital contribution of the United States of America to the protection and promotion of the human rights worldwide. We can therefore but regret the decision of the United States Government to withdraw from the Human Rights Council. Slovakia firmly believes in effective multilateralism. The Human Rights Council has been standing on the sound foundations of the UN Charter and its principles. And it delivers on many important human rights issues thus contributing to the protection and promotion of the human rights worldwide. The Council is a solid human rights instrument defending the universality, indivisibility, interdependence and interrelatedness of human rights. Protection and promotion of the human rights and fundamental freedoms of every individual is the best and the most efficient preventive strategy for people to live in peace and prosperity.
