Meeting of the Government Council of the Slovak Republic for Human Rights, National Minorities and Gender Equity

Information about the conclusions from meetings of various committees and the action plan for 2014 was presented at the thirteenth continuous meeting of the Government Council of the Slovak Republic for Human Rights, National Minorities and Gender Equity led by Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, in the premises of the Office of the Government of SR today (9 April 2014).

The agenda included information about the progressing preparations of the National Strategy for Protection and Support of Human Rights in SR which has entered its final stage, namely roundtable discussions whose outputs will be the core of the drafted document.

The Council has resolved to establish a working group on amendment of its constitution and the rules of procedure intended to bring higher efficiency to the council’s activities. Its members also focused on the issue of amendment to the act on the Slovak National Centre for Human Rights under the Ministry of Justice of SR and listened to a report on implementation of tasks resulting from the National Action Plan for Children for 2013-2017. The strategic goal of the action plan is to contribute to the development of a comprehensive and efficient system for protection of children’s rights and interests with special emphasis on jeopardized and disadvantaged groups of children to improve their protection against discrimination through tasks and measures that are part of the action plan.

The fourteenth meeting of the Council will be held in May 2014.
