The first meeting of the six working groups under the so-called Slavkov format for cooperation between the Czech Republic, the Slovak Republic and Austria took place in Prague today (17 June). The meeting was conducted by state secretaries of foreign ministries, namely Petr Drulák (Czech Republic), Peter Javorčík (Slovak Republic) and Michael Linhart (Austria), as the national coordinators for the Slavkov cooperation. The priority is improving the energy and transport infrastructure in the region and strengthening the coordination of positions in European policies. The national coordinators expressed their conviction that the cooperation of these neighbouring EU member states contributes considerably to the European integration process and the Slavkov format is a specific example of pragmatically focused cooperation in the Central European region.

The representatives of the six working groups (transport/infrastructure, employment/dual education, energy infrastructure/energy security, cross-border cooperation/absorption of EU funds, Western Balkans/Eastern Partnership, and social dimension of European integration) presented work plans till the end of 2015 as the result of their meetings.

The next coordination meeting under the leadership of the Czech Republic will be held towards the end of 2015. In January 2016 the coordination of the Slavkov cooperation will be assumed by the Slovak Republic.
