State Secretary Lukáš Parízek today (13 December) met with Bekaert management in Sládkovičovo and highly appreciated the presence of this largest Belgian company in Slovakia. He also underlined the efforts made by the company in focusing on high-technology production and life-long education of its employees. The Belgian company employees more than 2,300 people in its two plants in Slovakia and its annual sales reached €377 million in 2016. Besides the growth of employment in the region, Bekaert´s total investments in the past 15 years of €364 million also represent the supply of new, modern and highly-efficient technology equipment. More than 74 percent of the company’s production is exported, which positively influences the trade balance of the Slovak Republic.

The Bekaert Group is a world leader in technologies of metal transformation and processing of drawn wire products. It employs more than 30,000 people in its facilities across the world. In Slovakia, its production is largely focused on steel cord for tire reinforcement and is concentrated in two industrial plants in Sládkovičovo and Hlohovec in the Trnava region.
