Today (February 20, 2020), Lukáš Parízek, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, presented awards to 3 university students who were awarded prizes for the best essay on development cooperation and humanitarian aid.

The first year of the competition was announced by the Slovak Agency for International Development Cooperation (SAMRS) in September last year. Its aim is to reach out to the students of universities and colleges in Slovakia and abroad and motivate them to a deeper interest in development cooperation and humanitarian aid, as well as to critical thinking in this context. The competition also creates a channel for young people to provide the SAMRS and the MZVEZ SR with valuable input on this specific theme. “In your works, you bring specific ideas and proposals for solutions to the issues of the climate change and migration. Also thanks to SlovakAid, you come forward with innovative methods for these solutions,” said Lukáš Parízek in his acknowledgment of the works of the awarded students, namely Lucia Valachová, Alexandra Tóthová, and Tomáš Dilong.

The prizes for the winners are four-week internships at the Embassy of the SR in Nairobi, Kenya and at the Permanent Mission of the SR to the UN in Geneva, Switzerland and New York, USA. These internships are funded from the budget of the SAMRS.
