Ambassador of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Ali bin Jassin al-Thani, resident in Vienna, met with State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs SR, Lukáš Parízek, and presented the copies of his credentials, today (6 October).

The subject of the joint conversation was mutual relations between the Slovak Republic and the State of Qatar. The state secretary appreciated their traditionally good standard and noted that the broad potential does exist for future growth at several cooperation levels including the political and cultural ones as well as within academia. During the meeting Parízek appreciated the decision by the Qatar authorities to allow Slovak citizens to acquire a travel visa after their arrival in the country.

Economic cooperation was a separate point of the discussion in which Parízek welcomed the new ambassador’s pro-active approach and his perception of growing mutual economic interaction and investment as a foundation for more intensive Slovakia-Qatar relations. “Our effort is collaborating on improving the awareness of Slovakia within Qatar and its business community. We offer a unique geographical position within the EU in combination with a business-oriented environment, innovation-driven thinking and favourable investment conditions,” noted Parízek.
