Today (23 November), State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Lukáš Parízek, received Gregor Kozovinc, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovenian Republic. Issues of bilateral relations between the Slovak Republic and the Slovenian Republic were dominant during the meeting and were assessed by both partners as very friendly and balanced, with no outstanding issues.

State Secretary Parízek appreciated the fact that both countries have very similar opinions on European integration issues, enhanced by the countries’ membership in the euro zone and Schengen. “The Slovak Republic is ready to share with the Slovenian partners our experience as the presiding country in the Council of the European Union“, stated Parízek with regards to the start of preparations by the Slovenian Republic for this position that the country will hold in the second half of 2021.

The partners agreed that in the area of economic cooperation there is still room for more intense use of the countries’ potential. A visit by Andrej Kiska, President of the Slovak Republic, to the Slovenian Republic foreseen for spring next year will provide an impulse for making the individual dimensions of bilateral relations more dynamic.
