State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic František Ružička today (Wednesday, 5 February 2020), by the authority of the Minister Miroslav Lajčák, summoned Minh Trong Duong, the Ambassador of the Socialistic Republic of Vietnam to the Slovak Republic.

State Secretary Ružička presented the Ambassador of Vietnam with a verbal note stating that the Slovak Republic declares one of the diplomats of the Embassy of Vietnam in Bratislava to be persona non grata and demanding that this diplomat must leave Slovakia within 48 hours.

The Slovak Republic decided to take this serious step in connection with the final ruling of the German appelate court on the kidnapping of a citizen of Vietnam. In this case the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs promised resolute diplomatic consequences when the very serious suspicions of the abuse of the Slovakia’s hospitality are confirmed.

At the end Ružička stated that the Slovak Republic is interested in the further deepening of the mutual relations based on trustworthiness, mutual benefit and respect for the standards of international law.
