Today (17 June 2020) the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs had a meeting via telephone with Miroslav Jenča, the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Europe, Central Asia and America.

The partners discussed the initiatives of the UN Secretary-General in the area of digital transformation and security, conflict prevention, multilateralism and the promotion of preventive diplomacy. “The current turbulent geopolitical trends accelerated by the Covid-19 pandemic show, more than ever, that the promotion of effective multilateralism and respect for international law are key to peace, security and stability,” the State Secretary said in this regard.

In this calendar year, we are commemorating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the UN. “The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs will make an effort to ensure that autumn is marked by this important anniversary,” Ingrid Brocková emphasized at the end of the discussion.
