The „Tree of Peace“ was planted in Kansas City, Missouri on June 21, 2019.  This international and global project was initiated by Slovak landscape architect Marek Sobola to commemorate and honor worldwide the memory of all soldiers who fought and fallen during WWI. The main idea of the project is a message of peace with motto: “Let´s make love the lifeblood of this world”.

The planting ceremony on the North Lawn of the National WWI Museum and Memorial in Kansas City, Missouri, additionally marked the 100th anniversary of the death of Slovak General Milan Rastislav Štefanik. Consulate General of Slovakia in New York proudly donated the Red Oak tree and participated at the ceremony. Congressional resolution and Kansas City resolution were granted to commemorate the special occasion. The event was co-organized by project director Marek Sobola, Consulate General of Slovakia in New York, National WWI Museum and Memorial Kansas City, Missouri, Honorary Consul Ross Marine and Czech & Slovak Club of Greater Kansas City.
