The Foreign Affairs State Secretary stated, “Montenegro has a leading position in the process of integration in the European Union, which was confirmed by the recent report of the European Commission on enlargement that contains an evaluation of the progress made by individual candidate countries. Slovakia has actively supported Montenegro in the process of integration in the EU, not only in the area of diplomacy but also by direct technical assistance.

Slovakia supports the policy that the EU should open the last negotiation chapter with Montenegro in June of this year and believes that in the upcoming period Montenegro will fully focus on fulfilling the conditions that are necessary for the provisional closure of the negotiations’ chapters. Montenegro meets all the prerequisites to become a new EU member state in the next round of enlargement.
