State Secretary Lukáš Parízek on Strengthening Cooperation between Slovakia and Belarus

Today (4 February 2019), Lukáš Parízek, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, received Oleg Ivanovič Kravčenko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, in Bratislava.
 

Oleg Ivanovič Kravčenko is participating in the Conference on Combatting Antisemitism in the OSCE Region, which is part of the activities under the Slovak Chairmanship of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe. State Secretary Kravčenko acknowledged the agenda of the conference, and, in relation to the chairmanship activities, he recommended also involving the Eurasian Economic Union. The Belarus partner expressed interest in a proper and open dialogue regarding the EU and in the Eastern Partnership.
 

In addition to Slovakia’s OSCE chairmanship priorities, the partners also discussed developments in the east of Ukraine and activities in the areas of ongoing conflicts, such as the Nagorno-Karabakh, Transnistria and Georgia. “Slovakia fully supports the Minsk Agreements and highly appreciates Belarus’ initiative in Ukraine and in the process of negotiations,” emphasized Parízek.
 

The partners evaluated the current level of bilateral relations with the prospects for activities in 2019 and going into 2020. Lukáš Parízek accentuated: “The enhancement of bilateral cooperation is part and parcel of the enhancement of economic cooperation. Our relations in the economic sphere have been backed by the valid Communication on Cooperation between Slovakia and Belarus signed by the prime ministers.”
