Today (19 December 2018), Lukáš Parízek, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs received Michalis Chr. Stavrinos, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Slovak Republic, with residence in Bratislava.

The partners discussed the current state of bilateral Slovak-Cypriot relations. These have been characterized by the many years of Slovakia’s engagement in the process of mediating the two-community dialogue between Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot political parties, and by the participation of the Slovak peace-keeping forces as part of the UNFICYP mission. As Lukáš Parízek stated: “The Slovak Republic is interested in further continuation of activities facilitating closer links and the enhancement of trust between the two island communities also with regard to the fact that the measures to foster the enhancement of trust are one of the instruments and goals of the Slovak chairmanship in the OSCE next year.”

The two partners confirmed their interest in intensifying bilateral meetings on governmental, parliamentary, and expert levels in various sectors.
