On 5 March 2019 State Secretary of the Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Ministry Lukáš Parízek attended the meeting of state secretaries of the ministries of Interior, Defense, Foreign and European Affairs, Environment, Economy, Healthcare, and Agriculture on forming civil capabilities of the Slovak Republic. The meeting was aimed at assessing the preparedness of Slovakia to meet the goals laid out in the NATO seven baseline requirements for civil preparedness and resilience, about which Radovan Javorčík, Permanent Representative of the Slovak Republic to NATO, informed.

Parízek emphasized that the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic is ready to fully assist in civil preparedness. “We fully realize the connection between meeting the civil capabilities and defense planning, as well as the role of the private sector. We have a special responsibility towards our own citizens to meet the needs in this area,” added Parízek.

The coordination session continued as the working meeting on civil preparedness and resilience in the context of defense planning with experts from the individual ministries.
