State Secretary Martin Klus receives the Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic Georgios Dimitriadis

On Wednesday, 17 June 2020, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Martin Klus, received the Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic, Georgios Dimitriadis. In this their first meeting, the partners underlined the historical as well as the ideological proximity of the two countries and expressed their appreciation for the Slovak-Greek cooperation at the bilateral and multilateral level.

 

The good mutual relations are also symbolized by the growing number of Greek students at universities in Slovakia and also by the successful coordination of mutual repatriations between Slovakia and the Hellenic Republic during the corona pandemic.

 

Ambassador Dimitriadis emphasized that Slovak tourists are welcome in Greece in the summer 2020 season and at the same time confirmed that the coastal areas and adjacent islands have their facilities and capacities ready for the arrival of tourists despite the ongoing corona crisis.

 

During the dialogue, Turkey’s activities in the Mediterranean and the topic of migration were also mentioned, during which the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Martin Klus stated that "Slovakia is ready to support Greece and lend a helping hand to the extent of our available capacities."

 

Both partners also highlighted the work of Slovak police officers on the Greek border which is also the external border of the European Union.
