A humanitarian aid package valued at EUR 42,839 was dispatched today (13 December 2019) for the war-stricken Afghanistan by State Secretary of the Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Ministry Lukáš Parízek, Director General of the Crisis Management Section at the Slovak Interior Ministry Marián Dritomský, Director General of the Defense Management, Armed Forces Development, and Defense Planning Department of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic Slavomír Staviarsky, Director General of the Administration of State Material Reserves Section of the Slovak Republic Jozef Jantoš, and the Afghani representative receiving the assistance Doc.  Nasir Jalili.

The assistance is intended for the children from the city of Mazar-e-Sharif where the construction of the Abdulhafiz Jalili primary school was also from the SlovakAid resources. Slovakia thus provides for specifically targeted aid with the delivery which contains school uniforms for 700 students made in Slovakia, 700 pairs of sneakers and 224 pairs of winter shoes. The Military Support Foundation will donate a financial contribution valued at EUR 1,000 to support the education process.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Parízek expressed his appreciation for the engagement of several ministries and the resolve of his Afghan partner: “Our aid is aimed at improving living conditions. Education and the assistance to families are important factors for removing the causes of migration directly in the countries of its origin, among which is, undoubtedly, Afghanistan.”

Afghanistan is a SlovakAid partner country, where the development assistance focuses on the area of improving the quality of education. Afghanistan is the country with the lowest level of education, and therefore it is especially primary education which is the priority of the Afghan Ministry of Education.
